Dr. Cathy Hung: ‘Dare to Be Different’ — Thriving as a Minority in OMS

“You have to fit in with the guys.”

That was the first thing Cathy Hung, DDS, MBAc, heard as a burgeoning OMS professional fresh out of dental school.

“When you enter a homogenous group, the first thing you want to do is conform, because if you don’t, people don’t welcome you,” she said. “There’s a fear of not conforming.”

However, as a woman and first-generation immigrant from Taiwan, conforming wasn’t exactly easy.
